Art Department

Bee Millar is joining the Art Department at BSL in August, from the UK. She has a wealth of experience across the artistic spectrum, having worked as a textile designer, community artist, graphic designer and teacher for many years.
She graduated from the Central School of Art in London and gained her Master of Design at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland in ‘94.
Her postgraduate thesis took her to Ghana to study craft development and she fell in love with West African life. The following year she joined the faculty of Ho Polytechnic in Ghana’s Volta Region, to teach Fashion and Textiles whilst existing staff gained their own degrees abroad.
She has taught Art and Graphics in English secondary schools since her return to the UK, encouraging her students to look beyond their own cultural boundaries to view themselves in a global context.
Profoundly influenced by the West African aesthetic in her own artwork, Bee is delighted to be returning to teach art in the region she regards as her ‘second home’.
