Maria Blake

Maria took her A Level’s at Casterton School in the UK and then read for her BSc Hons Psychology and her PGCE at The University of Newcastle Upon Tyne.
She has worked as a teacher and administrator in a number of schools across the world and taught many different curricula including both UK National Curriculum and PYP. Maria began her teaching career in Hackney, UK and has continued through Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Rayong, Thailand; Islington, UK; Cairo, Egypt; Gaza, Palestine and Co. Galway in Ireland.
During her career Maria has come to a few simple conclusions;

1. Her personal philosophy of teaching is quite simple – effective teaching and learning has to begin with the student, regardless of school, social context or curriculum.
2. She held several senior management roles during her career and if she has learned anything, it is that school management, while being hugely rewarding and satisfying, is also complex and challenging, making demands on the manager’s personal and professional competencies. |
