MATHEMATICS
At the British School of Lome we believe that mathematics is fundamental in all aspects of learning as it enables the learners to understand and to interpret all aspects of life. Mathematics is applied in all the other areas of learning as it is a prerequisite for major professions such as engineering, medicine, biotechnology and any other technical profession.
The BSL curriculum for mathematics is designed in such away to accommodate all the students with various capabilities whereby the fast learners and the slow learners are put in different groups so that the teacher can take them at their pace to ensure maximum understanding by each and every student. At the IB Diploma level it is divided such that the students who are very good in maths and whose future career require maths study at a higher level than the other students. We have also incorporated other forms of learning such as thinking mathematics which helps the student to be more creative and also to be able to apply mathematics in every day life. |
