MUSIC

     The Department teaches music to all students from reception to year 11. Each class has music lessons twice a week. From Reception to year 6 pupils concentrate on a large repertoire of songs, using percussion instruments and from year 2-3, recorders. Many songs are chosen to integrate into PYP units of enquiry.
      Year 7-9 concentrate on the 3 domains of the curriculum: Listening and appraising musical works from different countries, composing and performing.
Year 10-11 prepare and take the IGCSE Examination (CAMBRIDGE BOARD)
Students participate in at least 2 after school activities, primary, senior choir, JAZZ group and individual guitar, piano, woodwind, percussion lessons and are able to take graded examinations of the London College of Music (Thames Valley University, London) where the school is a Music Centre for the LCM.

Oral Communication

     Students have the opportunity to take LCM examinations at various levels. These exams and music are accredited by the QCA (Qualifications and Curriculum Authority) which serves as UK governmental stamp of approval and quality assurance, standards equal to other boards.
LCM Examinations in oral communication are intended to assess and encourage a wide range of inter-personal skills which will be of value in personal and professional life to develop dynamic, effective and sensitive modes of conveying meaning, ideas facts and empathy.
