The 21st century workplace is changing so quickly. Some traditional careers have become obsolete, while new ones are emerging at a rapid pace As careers diversify, career choices and therefore career guidance are becoming both more important and more demanding to ensure that students have the skills to navigate this complex economic environment.
Our student’s success after school is at the heart of our mission that is why our university and careers orientation system is built on a solid, systemic, broad-based scheme inspired by Gatsby Benchmark for Good Career Guidance(2013).
All learners in years 8-13 are entitled to:
- Finding out about technical education qualifications and apprenticeships opportunities, as part of a careers programme which provides information on the full range of education and training options available at each transition point
- Hearing from a range of training providers about the opportunities they offer, including technical education and apprenticeships – through options events, assemblies, group discussions and taster events
- Understanding how to make applications for the full range of academic and technical courses available after secondary education
At BSL we endeavour to follow the eight Gatsby benchmarks of Good Career Guidance:
- A stable careers programme
- Learning from career and labour market information
- Addressing the needs of each learner
- Linking curriculum learning to careers
- Encounters with employers and employees
- Experiences of workplaces
- Encounters with further and higher education
- Personal guidance
Support for external exams
Whether a student is applying to university through a trusted application system such as UCAS , Common app, sending direct applications, he may be required to take some external exams among which SATs, IELTS, TOEFL.
The school organises information sessions and assists students in preparing for every external exam that may be of a benefit to their university application.
In addition to that, the British School is a SAT Exams national test center.
We pride ourselves on integrity in the University Application Process
