What Can You Learn at the ELI?
Our course offerings from 2026 include:
General English (A1–C1)
Our popular General English courses are suitable for all levels from beginners to more advanced speakers. Classes focus on practical language and communication skills you can use at work, in study or in daily life. General English courses build strong foundations and improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing at every level.
We also offer short express courses like Confident Conversation, Practical English as well as an English mystery club where you can rapidly improve your English fluency by solving mysteries and puzzling crimes.
IELTS Preparation
If you are planning to study, work or move abroad, our six-week IELTS preparation courses cover all four skills, exam strategies, plenty of practice and mock tests to help you achieve your target band score with confidence. This very popular course is only 100,000 FCFA. This price includes all learning materials.
APTIS Preparation
Do you need to demonstrate your English level for work, study or professional development? The Aptis test gives you a clear and trusted measure of what you can do in English – quickly, conveniently and cheaply. Developed by the British Council, it provides a reliable measure of your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in English.
At the ELI, our six-week preparation course gets you ready to achieve your potential on Aptis General, Aptis Advanced and Aptis for Teachers.
Executive English
Our silver, gold and diamond level Executive English courses offer a complete and comprehensive training in English for the international workplace. Courses not only increase your English proficiency but provide training in communication, writing and professional skills. Each module ends in a business workshop where you can apply your language and enhanced skills.

International English Exams
IELTS
The ELI is an official IELTS Test Centre. You can register for the exam with us and take the test here at the British School. The next test date is November 22 2026. Fees are 210,000 FCFA including exam fees and registration.
IELTS in a world-recognised English language exam for intermediate and advanced speakers of English. It is commonly required for university entrance and for visa applications.
APTIS
The ELI is the only authorised Aptis test centre in Togo. You can register with us for the full range of tests: Aptis General, Aptis Advanced and Aptis for Teachers. You can also register your child for the Primary English Test and the Secondary English Test.
Developed by the British Council, Aptis is a rigorous international test of English, similar to IELTS, but at a fraction of the price. It provides a score on the CEFR scale (A1-C1) and provides a widely-recognised certificate. It is an excellent test for professional purposes and to certify your English standard.
