Welcome to the Primary School at The British School of Lomé. Students who join BSL in the Primary School can look forward to a creative and engaging teaching and learning experience. At BSL all our students and staff are part of a collaborative Teaching & Learning Community. This contributes to our continual school improvement programme. We focus on providing academic excellence and a truly holistic educational experience for all our young people.
Early Years
Our professional understanding of teaching and supporting each child enables us to make sure that the activities are suited to each child’s unique needs. Our curriculum is designed to be flexible, so that we can follow each child’s unique needs and interests. Children in the EYFS learn by playing and exploring, being active, and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoors and outside.
Primary
At the British School of Lomé, the Primary curriculum is designed to provide a rigorous and engaging educational experience that lays a strong foundation for future learning. Our curriculum is based on the Cambridge framework, aligning closely with the British National Curriculum to ensure a high standard of education in core subjects such as English, Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology), and Mathematics, as well as foundation subjects including ICT (Computing), Art, Music, French, Humanities (Geography and History), Drama, Library, PE & Swimming, and PSHE (Personal, Social, Health, and Economic Education). We offer a broad and balanced curriculum that includes a wide range of subjects to support the development of well-rounded students. To track and enhance academic progress, we administer UK/International GL Assessments for annual standardised external exams. These assessments help us maintain rigorous academic standards and provide valuable insights into each student's progress. Additionally, our curriculum incorporates innovative approaches like Shanghai Maths to ensure our students align with global educational standards, preparing them for future success.
